Southern Love Landscaping & Design vs RcTex Pavers: which fits your hardscaping job?
Both businesses score well by our methodology, but they aren't built for the same job. Southern Love is a full-service landscaping outfit that includes hardscape elements like patios and decks alongside plantings and sod, while RcTex Pavers is a specialist focused almost entirely on paver driveways, patios, and masonry-style hardscape builds. For a project centered on hardscaping and masonry, that specialization gap matters more than the composite score.
Verdict
For a job that's specifically hardscaping and masonry, RcTex Pavers is the tighter fit: its reviews describe base prep, joint work, and paver craftsmanship in the kind of detail that signals real specialization, backed by Rob's hands-on process. Southern Love Landscaping & Design still deserves a look if your project blends hardscape with planting or sod work, since its broader crew and larger review base show it handles multi-trade jobs well, but on masonry specifics alone, RcTex's focus is the more direct match.

The differences that matter
- Specialist vs full-service. RcTex Pavers builds its entire reputation on paver driveways, patios, and custom features like built-in grills, while Southern Love treats hardscaping as one piece of a broader landscaping offering.
- Base prep and technical execution. RcTex reviews repeatedly single out base prep, joint work, and material selection as trusted strengths, a level of technical detail on masonry specifics that Southern Love's reviews don't focus on.
- Review volume and track record. Southern Love has nearly triple the reviews (280 vs 101) and a slightly higher composite score, giving it a broader track record even though not all of that volume is hardscaping-specific.
- Owner involvement style. RcTex's owner Rob personally walks homeowners through materials and process on paver jobs, while Southern Love's named designers (Nikkolas, Harrison, Laura, Dustin) bring a design-first approach across multiple trades.
- Scope beyond the hardscape. Southern Love can fold in sod, native plants, and drainage guidance around the hardscape work, whereas RcTex's reviews center on the hardscape project itself with less mention of surrounding landscape integration.
